“What is the best tribe in Travian to play with ?”

Most common question for all the new players.

For those who still not know about the three tribe in Travian should read this post before.

From my experience in playing Travian for some years, I can give share some hints for everyone who might still not know what tribe is best to play with.

Basicly each of the tribe: Roman, Gauls and Teutons is equal to each other. No specific tribe is more powerful than the others. The Travian Games GmbH has make each of the tribes has it’s own characteristics to play and “relatively” equal to each others.

So what make the big gap between them ? The answer is your own game playing style. This can make huge different between each of the tribes. In some time, you can find very dangereous Teutons is dominating the servers, also in different time, you can find Romans or Gauls is terrying your territory. They relatively share same strength and same power, but your game playing style can make them stronger or weaker than supposed to.

Lets compare more characteristics of each tribe base on activity level (the online time consuming), offensive or defensive style player, and best fit for experienced or beginner player.

Teutons

  • suitable for aggressive player
  • need heavy activity level/online time
  • offensive style
  • very effective in raiding
  • cheapest and quick training time troops, especially for its clubswinger
  • relatively weak in defense
  • intermediate to experience player recommended

Romans

  • suitable for aggressive or passive player
  • need intermediate online time
  • can be offensive or defensive player (balance)
  • not so effective in raiding consider to Teutons and Gauls, but Equites Imperatoris can be the Romans solutions for raiding
  • the most expensive units to build
  • relatively strong in defense, especially against infantry units
  • experience player

Gauls

  • best for passive player, but can be aggressive too
  • light to intermediate online time
  • defensive player
  • not so effective in raiding consider to Teutons, but more effective than Romans
  • balance units to build (not the cheapest nor expensive)
  • strong in defense
  • best for beginner player, but still wide open for experienced player

some notes for the above comparison :

  • light online time is around 1hour till 6 hours you can spent to play Travian.
  • intermediate, categorized as 6 hours till 12 hours to spent
  • and heavy online time categorized as more than 12hours you can spent to play.

Aggressive players means a type of player who like to raid/attack all of other players during his online times. This type of player is keep running his raiding target all over his time. Passive player is a type of player who like to sit and watch his game, not so interested to raid/attack. This kind of player is more liking in domestic manner or defensive player.

If you are very aggresive player with more than 12 hours in your game activity level , Teutons is good and best for you, because Teutons have the cheapest and quickest training time troops and very effective in raiding. Although Romans is relatively balance in offense and defense, I keep recommend it for advance/experience player, because of the most expensive units and the longest training time troops. This need more experience to handle and organize.

Hint

There is no “best” tribe. What tribe will be “best for you” depends on your style of play and your activity level.

Teutons are more fun to play with for sure but then they may not be so much fun if you like playing defensively and live peacefully.

Teuton defense is worst especially in front of infantry, but the Roman defense worst in front of cavalry.

Once you get to a certain level, all tribe advantages will more or less even out and it will only depend upon what type of game you can play.
